I'm running OS X.4.11 on a 2.5 dual G5.
I upgraded to AE CS3 and all was working fine.
I had to do an 'archive and reinstall' of the OS.
Now, AE fails upon launch whenever the file "DVCPROHDCodec.component" is in the Quicktime folder in the Library. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling AE and the problem remains. AE seems to work OK when I remove that particular codec from the folder.
What could have changed?
Any idea how to remedy this? I really do need my DVCProHD codec.

you probably just need to update the codec. it was most likely installed as part of final cut pro. since you reinstalled the os, did you run the software update... i think updates to the apple provided codecs will be available through the standard apple software update app. i think they are usually included in an update called something like 'pro apps' update.
you only need the codec if you need to read media files that have been encoded with dvcprohd (like panasonic p2 media) or need to render to that codec. if you don't use that codec, then you can live happily without it (at least until you need it...)
