Looking to upgrade to a new 8core Intel Mac Pro from a PPC and was curious about a graphics card that is robust enough to run AE CS3 as well as something like C4D. I intend to start at 10Gbs of RAM, if that helps. Not exactly looking forward to spending $3k on a top of the line card but I accept that you get what you pay for. Just wondering what any of you like in the $1500 range.

Don't worry about AE in a new card. Worry about what C4D needs. AE's pretty comfy with just about anything. It doesn't gain much with a fancier card, if it indeed gains anything at all.
Case in point: Adobe Propoganda touts AE's ability to use Open GL. The reality is this: AE implements only a subset of Open GL. This makes just about impossible to design an AE project to take advantage of AE's limited Open GL capabilities without really screwing things up becasue you included something that AE doesn't do all that well in Open GL. Most people eventually give up, turn off Open GL in AE, and get on with life.
So get a card that C4D likes, and AE will like it, too.

Thanks Dave,
I did a double take when I read your signature. KRCG is the CBS affiliate here in Columbia, MO. I work for KMIZ, the ABC affiliate. Had you been from KRCG as opposed to KCRG we would've had to have gotten together to make sure beer still worked.

HA! And to add to the confusion, KCRG is an ABC affiliate. When they used to ship tapes to stations, we'd occasionally get stuff for them and vice-versa.
