Rolling back Quicktime...

Hey all,
I started getting an error today in AE CS3 stating that it couldn't import .mov as they're an unsupported format. I was completely confused about it considering last time I worked on this project, all went smooth as silk. I found Mylenium's page regarding the error and it being caused by damaged files, but then realized that it's not project specific-- it's all MOVs. I updated quicktime last week, but can't remember if it was before or after doing any AE work. If it's everything, my instinct tells me that it's the culprit.
So after all of that explanation, my question is simply this. Is there a way to roll back to a previous version of QT? I uninstalled it from my system, but upon exploring apple.com, found only DL links for 7.4.5.

You might try looking in Quicktime Preferences for something like "Support Legacy Codecs". I don't know what it's called exactly, but the key part is "Legacy Codecs".
You turn it on, and QT can then read & write to such exotica as the Animation codec.
So why does Apple even make you do that? I have my own theories which are loaded with certain four-letter words not suitable for polite company.

I re-installed it and found the "enable encoding using legacy codecs" option. I checked it and loaded up my AE. Unfortunately, it's still giving the same error messages. It's literally ANY mov I try and use.

Darby Edelen has QT 7.4.5 on his Mac, and he reports no troubles so far.
However, you may want to go back to the big, long QT 7.4 thread back in January. People had to do a complete uninstall of QT 7.4 ( beware -- it is NOT a straightforward thing) and then reinstall QT 7.3.
Perhaps Darby will chime in on this thread.
I personally advise restraint whenever Apple releases a new version of QT. My view is this: you don't need to be the first kid on your block to have the new QT: Apple's reputation for Getting It Right The First Time is somewhat less than stellar. Let somebody else be the guinea pig.

I found 7.4.1 on Apple's site. I installed it and everything is back to normal. I've not had troubles with new versions until now but I'll certainly heed that advice in the future. In case anyone else has the same issues go here and you can get at least 7.4.1 on the right hand side of the page.

Even under 7.4.5 the only times I've ever seen that error is when an MOV file is missing some of its information, for example if a file transfer didn't quite complete but you thought it did.
It's nice to hear you've fixed the problem by rolling back. I haven't had any problems yet.
