what do I need for speed?
by Chuck Obernesser (titan3ium) on Mar 31, 2008 at 8:10:31 pm

Hi to all:
Working on a promo for my company. I am only about 4 sec. in to the promo and my comp is just slowing down. I have only a few layers 2 with glow fx, 1 with motion tile set to 500 or so on both horz and vert. and I am using some of Kramers arrow fx from evolution. But it just seems that the comp is running really slow. I turned the res down to half and turned the glow off for now. But still slow for a quick ram preview. I have an Power Mac G5 2.0 ghz processor and 6.5 Gig's of ram. Every is stock on this never bought anything except memory. Beside upgrading to the new mac tower can anybody recommend what i can use to get some more speed?

Thanks!

The only viable technique for speeding up this kind of wokr is to divide the project into some layers that can be prerendered. ReIMport them as movies that no longer require processing.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: "For crying out loud, read the freakin' manual."
