Creating a water bottle in mid-air

Okay, this next project is for a bottled water company.

In the end scene a man is supposed to step up to stream, scoop up a hand full of water and then let it pour from his hands. As the water pours down, it should start to form a water bottle in mid-air. It seems like this effect is pretty common.

I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do this yet. I might just try chroma keying the pouring of water into the bottle and then try to match up the two water streams.

That is, match up the live action stream that is actually pouring out of the man's hands with that of the chroma keyed footage.

Any thoughts?

[malcolm man] "Any thoughts?"

I presume this is going to be a highly-stylized, "endless stream of water" issuing from the talent's hands.

If you haven't done it already, I suggest measuring how much water a cupped hand actually contains.

Yeah, I'll be doing some tests this weekend.

I'd suggest 3-D for the flow and the bottle form - ypu may want to shoot the talent on greenscreen first and then composite the background, talent and water.

Soooooooooooo...the entire water stream and bottle would all be done in a 3D app and then integrated in with the talent?

That sounds like alot more work. Plus, I don't really have access to a 3D app at this point.
