Field preview possible?
by Chris Gleinser on Feb 26, 2008 at 9:32:54 am

Hello,

I hooked up a TV over firewire to preview the video, and so far it works. But I'd like to get a field-correct preview... of course, AE previews everything without fields using interpolation (when the footage is correctly interpreted as interlaced footage), and when it simply sends this preview to my TV, it shows exactly the same picture, which is not properly interlaced.

Is it possible to change this somewhere? (Of course without having to interpet the whole footage as non-interlaced ;)

[Chris Gleinser] "Is it possible to change this somewhere?"

Yup. Simply change the default Render Settings for RAM Preview to include fields -- in the proper field order, of course -- and you ought to be good to go.

Hmm I can't find that option anywhere. Under "Preferences", I've got "Preview..." and "Video Preview..." but neither of those has settings for field rendering. And I also couldn't find a settings dialog explicitely called "RAM Preview"...
