after effects credit scroll
by Thom Obarski on Feb 2, 2008 at 8:59:41 pm

Hi, I'm creating a credit scroll and was wondering if there was any shortcut character to right justify the person's position and left justify the persons name? I know in fcp using the * between the 2 creates this "auto gap" which can then be controlled with a gap preset in the text options, was just wondering if there was anythin like this in AE or am i going to have to reformat my whole credit scroll? Thx in advanc!

You're looking for gutters.
Nope.
but the same boris products that you have been having so much trouble with in FCP are the same type composition tools that you can get for AE.

The best way to create guttered text without going to a good typographical tool like Photoshop or Illustrator is to create each line as a separate item. Lay them out on a tall composition, precompose, animate the vertical position of the nested comp. Same as you'd do it in FCP, sort of.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: "For crying out loud, read the freakin' manual."
