After Effects error message
by Michael Marcelle on Jan 30, 2008 at 6:46:43 pm

I just installed After Effects 7.0, and every time I open it, I get this same error message, literally about 20 times :

After Effects error: too many file extension mapping table entries.
( 3 :: 94 )

After popping up over and over again, After Effects finishes loading but immediately quits.

Any ideas ?

do you have any third party plugins/effect installed... if so pull them from the plugins folder, then try opening ae.

older third party quicktime components (codecs) can be a problem, or even an old version of quicktime. remove old components or download the latest versions. as far as the version of quicktime, don't download the lates (7.4 has some issues with ae), but check the 7.0 manual for qt version compatibility.

also, make sure your graphics card and sound drivers are up to date, along with any other video capture devices you may have.
