Not Accepting Lights
by Geoff Towle (GeoffT) on Jan 23, 2008 at 10:19:20 pm

I've imported a PSD file with 3 layers. Only the bottom layer is accepting lights and casting shadows. All three layers are 3D and have the same material settings.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Geoff

[Geoff Towle] "Any ideas?"

Yeah: get rid of the 2D layer that's above the bottom layer imported from Photoshop. It's screwing things up.

Dave-

Thanks for the reply, but there isn't a 2D layer above the 3D layers. All of the PSD layers are 3D, but only the bottom one is accepting lights and shadows.

Okay.... but if there's a 2D layer in among the 3D layers, it'll ruin your day.

How were these layers imported (composition/footage)? Are there layer switches that were accidentally toggled? Someone would have to see your timeline (or have you give a very detailed description) to exhaust all the possible problem scenarios.
