Creating a Sun
by compuguru on Jan 17, 2008 at 12:15:42 am

I'm working on creating a short bumper for our cable access station where there is a sun that rises from clouds. I have some pretty good looking clouds using the Fractal Noise as an alpha channel to a white solid, but the Sun is a bit tougher. I tried TrapCode's Shine which gave me a great result, but I can't swing the cost of the plugin right now. Does anyone know of any techniques for creating a sun? It doesn't have to be realistic, basically a circle of light with rays shooting out, but with a little more detail.

Try this "fake" shine.

Try muck about with the Lens Flare on a black solid layer set to 'add' and use Hue/Saturation 'Colorize' on the result to make a monochrome white/orangey look.
