making particles orbit around an object

Hi there. I am currently working on a project which is a valantined theme shoot featuring fhm models shot on a green screen.
What I would really like to do is make love hearts orbit around the girls.
I have played around with particular and set the particle as a pre composed heart. I then used a light to animate a motion path. I was just using some old keyed out footage. My problem was that the hearts would either be infront or behind the models. I could not get the heart to spiral around them.
I have been searching for a while but could not find anything to help me out.
If anyone has any suggestions or links to tutorials please let me know.

in particular, you can designate a 3d layer to be an obscuring layer, so as particles or the emitter passes behind the layer they will be obscured by that layer and appear to pass behind it.
if you search the cow (either the ae or trapcode forum) for particular and obscure you should find some examples... also, i think trapcode provided a quick tutorial within particular's help file.

to get to the help, click 'options...' at the top of the effect parameters in the effect controls. the help button is at the bottom left of the options window.
the obscuring tutorial is second from the bottom of the tutorials section in my version of particular.

Dear Joel
Its Obvious thats these rays were made by particular , but i was looking for the settings that you did to get this nice result and the distortion you made to the rays when they fade out.
i hope its not something that you want to keep for your self and i hope we can benefit from your work

After posting this the client and I signed a contract that states I'm not allowed to share quite yet. I will be able to disclose how I did this effect after the show airs on TV. I have an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with the client. I wish I could be of more help right now but my contract prohibits me to be.
I absolutely want to share and I will as soon as I can. Thanks for your support and interest in my work. There is nothing better than to get praise from fellow motion GFX people.
