Possible codec issue - seeking reassurance
by SSGGMM on Jan 3, 2008 at 7:15:48 pm

I made the jump from film to video a few years back. What a struggle. Here's the thing.

I've got some DVCPRO50 greenscreen footage (24P) and I'm working on AE7 for PC. After months of trying, I finally found a Matrox codec that allowed me to see and work with the footage. To key out the screen, I removed the pulldown and wound up with what appears to be 24 whole frames.

It might simply be my imagination, but it looks a little to steppy. It's making me nervous because I have no way of telling if I lost anything along the way. Is AE adding more compression? Am I using the wrong codec?

I hear Mac and FCP work well with DVCPRO. Unfortunately, that's not an option for me.

Thanks very much.
