3d view of earth

I'd like to create a shot of the earth with some stars and galaxies in the background, and I want the camera to circle around it a bit. Not a huge camera movement, like a full 360 or anything like that, but just a small movement that can give it a 3d look.
I've used CC Sphere to create the earth, but I'm a little stumped as to what to do next. It doesn't look like CC Sphere can use a camera, but I guess I can manually adjust the rotation on the plugin to fake it. Is there a way I could maybe tie the plugin to a camera through an expression or something though? And how about the stars in the background? What would be my best bet for creating something like that?

checkout tutorials 41a and 41b at videocopilot.net, andrew shows how to link the cc sphere parameters to a comp camera to get better control of those variables...

Go search Andrew Kramer's AE tutorials, either here on the COW or on Andrew's web site. He's got a trick to fool a camera into thinking a 2D layer with CC Sphere looks 3D.

You could use something like Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator/Pro Animator to create a 3D sphere and then make its surface texture into that of a world map. This way you
