Pulling mattes, footage with Noise

I have a few HD shots that were scanned to Log DPX files. I have noticed noise in especially the blue channel.
I build my track mattes using keylight. During my key process I notice noise in the mattes. Should I denoise (remove grain) before I key? Also. Can you pull a better matte with the cineon conversion off?

I can't answer the question about Cineon conversion. However, I do know that it's possible to pull a seemingly-good key using Keylight that results in noise within the keyed subject.
