AE8 Audio Issue with MXF (MPEG HD)
by bigbHD on Sep 11, 2007 at 5:42:40 pm

Hello,
Wondering if anybody can help. Having audio issues when I add quicktime movies to my comp
that were shoot on XD CAM in MPEG HD format. For some odd reason I cant see (via waveform) or hear audio. If I preview the clip in AE it sounds fine, the issue comes up when the clip is added to the comp? Thanks in advance any help is greatly appreciated!

Can you convert the footage to some other format before importing into AE? Say, Animation codec? Photo-JPEG?

I say this because AE doesn't like working with codecs such as MPEG that use interframe compression, and if I recall, XDCAM does that.

Anybody else?

My work around was to extract the audio in quicktime and create a new file from the original (audio only) and it likes that just fine. I think your right, Never had AE get along with MPEG well. We are shooting a lot of greenscreen stuff at the station I work at, and the MPEG HD is great for keying. If the audio would come with the clip it would save time and steps. Thanks for your help!
