I'm on step 6 and it's driving me nuts. He's got screenshots of the particular setup, but it's not working. His "timeline" doesn't really show anything. All I end up with are several spikes across the screen and that's it. They don't move, they don't do anything. Any help is appreciated...

I've never been able to make sense out of any of his tutorials. They all seem to be missing something. It's almost as though he left sections out because the translation to English was too difficult.

Thanks Moldyboot. After four more hours of frustration, I think I'm going to try and use 3d stroke. If you look at what he's done, the swirls are very uniform, and they dissapear really nice. To get that uniform swirling is really hard, they are shooting off in all sorts of directions...I think it's becuase they don't start from the same location. Some swirls are way above and others below. Dunno, but this guy as WOWfactorx said, I think a lot gets lost in his translation. He simple says "adjust parameters." Too bad too, because he has some cool stuff.

i played around particular this morning, and i got pretty similar results to the tutorial for the third particle system with physics settings for air of:
air resistance: 1-2
spin amplitude: 50-85
spin freq: 2-5
time before spin: 0
it also looks as though the emitter need to be animated across the screen, as the other emitters do, despite the setteings image for the third emitter showing no keyframes.
i kind of like the vagueness of his tutorials... but i also like troubleshooting things... it's one reason i enjoy the cow.

I know what you mean about troubleshooting. I know a lot more now about particle generators now trying to figure it out. After three days of creating a 4 second logo, I went another way. I took the schematic looking letters and then transformed them into a 3d looking text that looks like it was carved out. I did this to look like an acr welder. With a nice blue rotating lens flare, and a couple of particlular layers I did it. Thanks for the help.
Just curious is name "moldyboot" becuase of the damp weather in Seattle???

You seem to know a lot about particular. On this sequence, I'm basically using a cutting torch to crate letters. I've got sparks flying and the blue lens flare looks great. I'm trying to create smoke. I saw a post for this but somone said just use foam(without any directions). I know particular can do it, but I'm ending up with clouds. haha. And when I get it close, the smoke doesn't go up, it follows the moving spot across the screen. I'd like to have a nice smoke that comes up from the 'beam' and follow up from that point. A light smoke that lingers a second.
