Hello everyone!

I don't think this is the appropriate forum to post this but as it has a high traffic and I use AE I thought someone might know...

I was asked to translate a CEO's message to the employees of a very large international company (I can't disclose the name) and to subtitle the video in which he is talking.

It must be and English to Spanish translation. I really don't know how much I should charge for the translation of the message and for the subtitling of the video.

Should I charge per minute? per word? for the whole project?

Has anyone done such a job that could advise me? I need to send an estimate as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Alejandro

Hey, thanks for the offer but I know how to, I just need to know how much to charge... and I believe it's pretty difficult sending an entire DVD through the internet don't you think?

Thanks

Alejandro

Few years ago a project I was working on needed to be farmed out to a translation/subtitling house to be subtitled in a variety of different languages and dumped to Beta SP. If I remember correctly, charges were between 900-1100 dollars per video (depending on the language). This was an approximately 8 min video. Oh, that didn't include the translation since we supplied the translated versions of the script to them.

Hey thank you very much for this, although I'm a little confused as I saw some really cheap ($6 per minute) offerings on the internet... Anyways, thank you very much for the tip.

Can anyone clarify this to me?

Regards

Alejandro

I don't think a professional house would charge $6 a minute. I think these guys were using more professional equipment to do this, we had something like 8 or more different languages including Japanese and Mandarin.
This was the company that did the work:

There was probably some markup included in that pricing, since this was the quote we got from the production house, who hired the translation company...I'm sure they took a cut.

Thanks for clearing this out for me. Now I have an idea of how much to charge.
