phaser/laser effect

hi all, i am looking to create a phaser/laser type effect for some footage. I am looking to see how you would go about achieving this.

You will have to be more specific if you want a good answer....phaser/laser could mean a lot of things. You might want to try messing around with the Beam effect or just gradient with a mask and some glow or shine.

yeah, Beam.
There's also a lightsaber tutorial on here. I dunno whether or not you'd be able to apply anything from that tutorial to the effect you're trying to achieve, but it might be worth a look.
