Color Balance

I'm working on a project where I had to make do with a - very - basic cam recorder. Meaning, that I didn't have proper white balance options. I couldn't manually set the white balance, so I had to make do with the Auto balance.
The video consists of a white piece of paper with a hand sliding across it. However, with the white balance set to Auto, this makes for horrible fluctuations in white balance. What I would like to know is, whether it is possible to select a portion of the screen and mark it as white throughout the sequence?

No, but you can do it over TIME with one of AE's effects called Keep Color or Preserve Color. I'm rendering right now, so I can't look it up. But you'll find it. It ought to do the trick.

Hello Dave, thank you for your reply. I had some trouble doing it your way. I'm rather new to After Effects, however, I did find out about the Color Stabilizer effect that does just what I want :)
For anyone else with this problem, the effect only comes with the Pro version, and there are also a few plugins around, namely Tinderbox DeFlicker (Tinderbox 1) and GBDeFlicker.
