CS3 Upgrade - to uninstall or not to uninstall
by Maltaannon on Aug 7, 2007 at 4:53:08 pm

Hi.

I just got myself CS3 Production Studio Premium, and its an upgrade to CS2. I'm wondering, should i uninstall CS2 before installing CS3, or not?

As far as i know CS3 install files are full install files, they don't need CS2 files installed. The upgrade is just about the license.

I'm asking because I don't want to mess up my system.

Thanks.

i currently have cs3 production studio installed with several other cs2 apps and ae7, with no problems. i may remove some of the cs2 apps, like photoshop and illustrator soon, but i plan to leave ae7 until i can get more third-party cs3 effects (intel mac) versions.

As long as yo uinstall AE8 into a seperate directory, you should be fine with older versions. That's always been the case with AE, upgrade or new install because there is no such thing as an upgrade in AE. Meaning it's always an entirely new application.

The exception is with UPDATEs. These will have to be installed into the current folder.
