Hey Guys & Gals,
If you own a laptop AND a tower (both), and have the same software on both, please share your experience with me :)
I find myself in unfamiliar territory...I am contemplating venturing out into Mobile Computing for the first time (a loaded MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) and I am doing my normal insane in-depth research before plunking down a wad of cash. This MBP will be used for on-location / remote stuff and I am keeping my Quad with the Kona LHe for home studio work / rendering / laying off / etc.
I read in one of the forums (maybe the Cow) that it is legal to install one software license for each app (in my case Final Cut Studio2 / After Effects CS3 / Photoshop CS3 / Illustrator CS3 / Cinema 4D R10 as well as plug-ins) on 2 machines as long as one is a laptop and they are both registered to the same person at the same address. Can I install multiple software app licenses on a MacBook Pro AND a Quad if I own both machines / they are registered under my name? Can the licenses be activated on 2 units at once if I own & register them both?

With Adobe software, speciffically, it is legal to install on both your laptop and desktop - not to be used at the same time.
Not always the case though. Each company has their own policy. But for adobe it's OK.
Because of this, You get 2 license activations before you get locked out of installing, and have to call for help/reactivation. I had a computer die, and had already installed on both machines, and I needed to call Adobe. No big deal.

Perfect, Aharon...thanx. That takes care of Adobe software.
When you said you had to call in...was that a "paid Tech Support" call or general Customer Service? Is there a general phone# you can post to call for this kind of help or is it a Pay-Per-Event call?

you can just call their standard complementary installation support number (on the adobe website), but I think the number actually comes up on screen when you run into the installation issue.

FCP detects installs with the same serial # on the network. You can install FCP on both machines but will only be able to open it on one machine at a time if they are on the same network.
