Just go to the layer's Material Options and you can change how the light affects the layer or simply turn it off.

selecting a 3D layer and hitting AA will reveal it's 3D material properties. One of those properties is Accept lights (on/off).
BTW - hitting AA on the camera reveals all of the camera properties.
AA is the special "reveal 3D properties" command in AE.
