Motion Paths in AAE 7
by blindd (bLiNdd) on Jun 5, 2007 at 9:22:20 pm

Ok, well I am using Adobe After Effects 7. I created text using Adobe Illustrator CS2 and I right clicked on the text in Illustrator and hit "create outlines" and I want to import the text with the outlines into AAE and use the outline of the text to add a Trapcode 3D stroke to follow the outline. I try to copy and paste it from Illustrator to AAE but doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong? Is there just a way to outline the text in AAE and just use it as a motion path for "3D Stroke?" If so, please respond to this thread. Thanks!

You need to create a new layer, then paste the outline to that (and it will show up as a mask). Apply 3D stroke to the layer and make sure "All MAsks" is checked. And I think you will also want to check "Stroke Sequentially"
