Where'd my effects go? Some disappeared from the menu!?
by tommmm on Apr 22, 2007 at 6:22:39 pm

Some of my effects in AE just up and disappeared. I used to use a spotlight effect, I believe called CC Spotlight under the "Perspective" menu, but its gone. All my "CC" effects are gone from the menu. What could have happened to them and how to I get them back?

Thanks
Tom

Have you upgraded After Effects? Check in your plug-ins folder on your older after effects program, and copy them to your new ae plugins folder.

Hey tommmm,

Can you reinstall them from your CD?

Maybe there was some kind of error on your computer and they won't load anymore, or whatever.

Good luck,

I looked in the "Standard Effects" folder on my computer and see no "CC" effect files in the folder what so ever. Is that the folder they should be in?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't there a "CC Spotlight" effect? Is there any other way to add a spotlight overlay lighting effect to a layer in AE without the CC effect?

Not sure on reinstalling by CD. I don't have the CD here with me anyways.

They could be in any folder in the Plug-Ins folder. Standard Effects are effects that ship with AE Standard, Professional Effects ship with AE Professional. Usually 3rd party vendors name their folder in the Plug-Ins folder something that makes sense like "CC Effects" or "Cycore FX" or something like that for CC.

So it looks like all the 'CC' effects are form Cycore which was included with AE 6.5. I can't for the life of me find my AE CD to reinstall. Any ideas how to get these cycore effects back? Or are there any other effects that could create a spot light effect?

Not to worry. Just call Adobe and give them your serial number and they'll help you get a replacement disc.

Adobe is very good about this kind of thing. They want to keep their good customers coming back, after all.
