AE interpreting HD Footage Incorrectly?

Hello everyone,
Well, we have the Panasonic HVX-200, and once import clip via P2cards into FCP it looks awesome. The major problem is importing into AE 6.5 or 7.
Here is an example of what is happening:
This is my clip from FCP (ah nice and dark)
This is what it looks like imported directly into AE (Yikes! what happend here?!)
BUT WAIT!
This was export from FCP as a QTMovie (w/PNG Codec) (ok little better, but not as good as source :( )
Notice how it's not as light? So, what is going on here??
I know that a brute force solution is to just simply Color Correct it, but there must be an explanation. Also note, SD footage seems to be immune to this problem.
Please help :)

It isn't an interrlacing problem, it's a color space problem. FCP works in YUV color space, and AE works in RGB color space. As you have noticed, there are subtle variations.
Tell you what: import a shot from FCP into AE (don't make it self-contained unless you have no other choice), and render the shot in AE with NO ADJUSTMENTS at all, using the codec appropriate for your FCP project. Then compare the two shots in FCP and see what you think.
Now, the term "YUV color space" is not precisely what it should be called. Anal-retentive engineering types would correct the term, but it's close enough for us.

Dave,
Thanks for your reply. I have try what you said and it's still lightening the footage. I was just informed about 2hrs ago that FCP has an upgrade for $100 (nice for Apple to do that to us FCP user :P )
This new upgrade is supposed to fix a gamma issue that happens when you send your footage to other programs or computer platforms.
So that might help FCP accept the correct gamma settings when importing a clip from AE.... That's all I can think of for now.

Yeah, the FCP upgrade MIGHT help, but remember that YUV and RGB are two different color spaces, and there isn't any changing that.
Well, that's not quite right. You can change FCP to work with RGB codecs in Easy Setup... but you might lose a LOT or real-time capabilities. I guess it all depends on the codec you use.
