requesting the ID of some plugins from a video
by gfh10h on Jan 7, 2007 at 3:55:22 am

hey all, i have a link to a video where the intro was made in AE. The editor said he used 3 plugins for the text into (first 10 seconds or so), and if I could get an ID on them that would be cool. Well rather, 2 of the plugins and any guesses or tips on how to get the swirly effect he got on the particular. thanks everybody :)

Without seeing the clip, my first guess would be Trapcode Shine and uhm... 3D Stroke.

This is fun :-)

how weird before I deleted it because I sounded even more cocky, I had written "Trapecode Shine, 3d Stroke and Starglow" just because they are all overused and currently super trendy

The rest is to modify it - good luck!

and the lines after the Logo apear seems to
be an other Ayato stuff.
like we say: "they are all cooking with water" :-)

Yupp, pretty much a 1:1 rehash of Ayato's stuff. Not particularly imaginative.

Hahaha...

Although the timestamp of my other post seems to say otherwise (different timezone) my guess above was before this link was posted...

It's all Trapcode as far as I can see.

The particles doing a 'swirly' wave could be turbulence within the Particular plugin. You'd also be able to do it by applying Turbulent Displace on top of the particles though.

As for animating the particles to form text. This tutorial will help.

The light rays are Trapcode Shine.

The animated lines in the end are Trapcode 3D Stroke.

Hope this helps.

If almost every question in this forum wasn't asking how to do: Light rays, 3D lines, and growing vines then I would think you were prophetic :)

looks to me like a rehash of George Polevoy's flowing text tutorial with something as simple as scaterize applied to the flowing text. then particular's 3d stroke and shine. George's tutorial was for AE 4.1 and the created date on the file in the tutorial is Mar 5, 2001. I just did this tutorial this week end looking through the tutorial archives. still works in 7. thought it was funny that I just did the tut, then you posted a link to almost exactly the same basic effect. I guess there's not much that's really new.

the tutorial is here

[sam.mltn] "...looks to me like a rehash of George Polevoy's flowing text tutorial..."

Thanks, Sam. That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

Best,
