Effects Demonstrations.... What they can do...
by rolynt on Dec 23, 2006 at 3:43:10 am

I bought the Total Training DVDs for After Effects 7 and I've been disappointed to discover they hardly do ANY exploration into the effects and what they can do. Oddly enough I've found more on my old 5.5 version of the training dvds... But it got me wondering is there any DVD that exits that just goes through the effects and gives examples of what each can do?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Have you tried spending an afternoon adding them to your clips and experimenting? Some of the coolest effects come from mixing unexpected plug-ins. Most plug-ins have a purpose but try to look past that and think about what is going on...

Hi,
Andrew is right, you just cant overlook the experimenting phase of the whole show. The more you experiment the more stuffs u can achieve. And then you need to be able to break down your desired effects into the smallest (albiet simplest) form you can imagine, then build up from there. ...opps Andrew forgot to share this (...laughs) http://www.videocopilot.net/seriousfx.html

Yes, I have experimented... but it'd be nice to have someone guide you through what they do at their most basic level first, so you don't spend 30 minutes trying to understand what one switch does that when you move the slider you see no change.
