Quicktime Rendering Problem
by Tilden on Nov 26, 2006 at 4:37:27 am

I am having a problem rendering to quicktime from my Maxtor 200GB external harddrive. Everytime I try to render an animation to quicktime and try to play it it says "windows delay write failure". When I render to avi it works fine however I prefer rendering to quicktime. Is there anyway to fix this?

Turn off the cache of your external drive (you should have a config utility somewhere to do that). It could well be the source of the problem. Windows treats QT files as data files and writes them in buffered mode whereas it sees AVIs as streams and writes them in burst mode (without caching).
