Dual monitors affect Open GL or render time?

Hi there. Maybe this is a silly question, but will using a single monitor vs using 2 get better performance from the GPU when running AE? I know the GPU memory gets split and 1/2 gets allocated to each monitor. Could that effect Open GL performance? (I'm balancing the apple 30" display and two 20"s for economy and system performance. I have an NVidia 6800 Ultra.) Any thoughts?

Well, in your case that is no question at all - the 30" requires two channels, so it behaves just the same as two separate displays. It certainly affects OpenGL and other display operations, but the memory is not split 50/50. Normal display operations do not require that much memory and depending on the mode there are optimizations. It's more a matter of proper configuration. OpenGL will only become memory hungry with large "textures" (big comps, 3D-layers), especially since AE has still Adaptive Resolution and you can go back to that mode should things get hairy with OpenGL.

Thanx, M. Almost had an excuse to blow $2300!
2x 20" it is then. Unless using a 23" and a 17" would make a difference? (since the memory is not split 50/50?)
