Not really. Using OpenGL is a very theoretical thing. The quality is not as good, it has severe limitations with anamorphic ratios and as for the speedup - a single non-accelerated effect, 3D element or sub-composition will eat up speed. If you are doing nothing more than adding text to a single video layer, AE flies, but for the rest OpenGL is not that terribly useful. If you're looking for ways to speed up rendering look for other tools such as Nucleo Pro.

Thanks for your reply.
I noticed that effects like gaussian blur are accelerated (which I use) so I assumed things like that were eating up a lot of render time in software only mode.
However it sounds like it's not worth pursuing when you look at the big picture.
