Problem:Rendering Movie, or Ram Preview Doesn't go whole length of timeline
by Dvickers79 (dvickers79) on May 14, 2006 at 5:42:43 pm

Hey everyone. This problem is driving me absolutely nuts.

I am animating a line to draw in one side of the screen, and draw out the other. The comp time is exactly 14 seconds.
When I go to save a ram preview, or even export the movie, it cuts off at a little over 9 seconds. I have checked all the settings that I can find, and it just won't render the whole length of the timeline. If any of you know the solution to this problem, or may guide me as to where to look, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Ahem, Make Movie? Render Queue? RAM preview will only render as many frames as it can cram into your computer's - erm - RAM (or "memory" as some people call it). That's why it's called RAM preview. The other rendering methods are not limited by this.

Also, have you set the work area to the correct time?

You may also have accidentally set the end of your work area around 9 seconds.

To fix:

- Move your timeline cursor to the end of your timeline (End key).
- Set the out point of your work area (N key).

Hope this helps of Mylenium's post did not.

yeah, people making you out to be an idiot certainly isn't very helpful. At any rate, I had to increase the memory consumption from 60% to 100%.

Thanks All, issue resolved.

Would you tell me how to increase the memory consumption as I always thought AE's RAM preview abilities depended on the amount of memory you had, but not that you could adjust it. That would be great. Thanks in advance.

Certainly, in Edit>Preferences>Memory and Cache>Maximum Ram Cache Size = 100%

It was originally set to 60% for me, and after pushing it up to 100%, it did allow my entire timeline to be rendered in Ram Preview.
