making fire effects in after effects

hi I am touching up a scene for a film where i need to produce an effect of fire to match what little fire there is in the shot.

I tried masking and duplicating it..i even used an Apple Motion fire.mov and nothing has quite worked right.

Does anybody have a good trick to making fire?

I am using AE 6.5

This tutorial uses fractal noise. You should get some pretty goood results.

If you can't create it, try making it. Shoot seome fire against a blue or black background. Then you could add it in as an element. Plus once you key and clean it up, you'll have some real fire for future prjects. Just don't call me if the fire gets out hand... call 911. There is Reel Fire you can get I think from Digital Juice.
