I'm trying to research and learn how to use after effects cs6 to remove actors from movie clips and add other actors in their place

Like the first Yoostar did. In researching, it looks like rotoscoping is something i need to learn, is that correct?

Been searching thru the cow database and I must not be searching for the right terms as I'm not getting any results.

Is there a specific name for the video editing technique of replacing characters in movies? Any great tutorials to start with

It will greatly help me cut my time to finding the tutorials i need to learn how to do this?

You are right with the technology that has been used in Yoostar.

Rotoscoping is used to remove the characters and then Kinect is used to place other actors.

I'm wanting to do this without using Kinect, strictly using After Effects CS6.

AE CS6 does have the Rotobrush tool, which can help speed along the process. You can't use it intuitively. You have to go through the tutorials, understand what it's doing, and build up experience with it.

Then there's this: if you get a good roto, you'll have a hole in your picture. Do you have enough of the background in other shots or in other parts of the same shot available so you can build a background to fill the hole? It's called a Clean Plate.
