How do you get Particular to move around a 3D flat plane.
by Reuben Fink on Oct 7, 2012 at 7:33:48 pm
I've created a circular path that I want a Particular emitter to move along in z-space meanwhile leaving a trail that eventually connects at both ends creating a full ring. Meanwhile I'm trying to make it look like it's going around a sphere. Is it possible for particular to travel in front and then behind a flat 3D Plane. If not than can you suggest a work around. Thanks.

If it's a 3D plane, with 3d enabled then you would twirl open visibility > obscuration layer and choose the 3d Plane. Now your particles will interact with that layer.

Ok so I found success with using an obscuration layer.
Check here:
I'm happy with the look. The only problem is that at full rez the edges of the obscuration layer are sharp and aliased looking and doesn't blend in. Is there a way to soften the obscuration layer? I tried putting a soft blur on the layer but it didn't do anything.
