Importing RED Camera Footage
by Chris Haag on Oct 2, 2012 at 11:22:07 pm
Hello,
New user to the cow.
I just received a drive from a shoot that they used the RED Camera. In certain folders there are different takes but it seems like there are duplicates of the footage, sometime 10 duplicates, but they are all around 4G but not exactly the same size.
When I import all 10 of the clips to AE they all look identical. Am I missing a step? Is there a compiling method that I'm not aware of.

Sweet thanks for getting back to me. Are you not able to work with the native RED files?, is there much of a benifit to using the native files? I'm using the CS6 suite.
Also, nice work on that Vizio stuff, I believe did that intro mnemonic haha.

You can bring native R3D into AE. If it is a longer shot it's split into 4 gig chunks so there might be (redclip).001.R3D - (redclip).006.R3D sort of naming going on. You only need to import the first one and the software just reads all the files as one clip.
