I would like to noodle around in CMYK color space in AE. I read there was a product called Walker Effects but it doesn't work in CS5 (only 32 bit). Does anyone know of another plug in, or cheat to split an image into CMYK channels?

That's a tough one, as all internal processing and all effects work in RGB.

Is there anything specific you're trying to accomplish?

since cyan, magenta and yellow can be derived from rgb, you may be able to use channel or color correction effects to create those separations.

try adding the levels (individual ctrls) effect and set the redd and green 'output black' to 255. that should give you a decent yellow.

duplicate that layer, reset the effect and then do the same thing for the red and blue channels to create magenta.

duplicate again and do the same thing for green and blue to get cyan.

then set those layers to multiply to blend the separations back to the original image.

if you wanted to create black, you could try the tint effect.

Hey thanks Kevin! That's exactly what I was looking for. I was really close but I was turning the other channels to black (basically the opposite), and I couldn't understand why it wasn't working.

I have sometimes used Photoshop to work on video in CMYK or LAB.

Some concepts can get really complicated in PS, but it's great for "non-video" colorspaces.
