Creating a scrolling message interface.

I need help figuring out the scripting to automate this interface I'm working on. Basically it's a message inbox that is being scrolled through. The current message enlarges while the messages before/after decrease in size and opacity. Kind of like the effect the mac dock has on icons as you scroll accross.

I've downloaded the itunes cover flow example also posted on CC and attempted to alter it, but with no luck.
