I am trying to make an animated overlay using some photoshop layers.

I imported the Photoshop file into AE, and I am already running into some problems.

1) Each layer only has a run duration of 10 frames (frames, not seconds). I tried fixing this by setting the comp to the desire time (6 seconds @ 24 FPS) but the layers insist on their duration of 10 frames.

2) Each layer insists on staying at 30 FPS playback.

3) I want to animate a camera trucking in on the frames. Most animated overlays (using the 3D effect to create a multiplane effect) I have seen use a null layer--what is the difference between a null and a camera layer?

I have searched other CreativeCow topics about this, but I am still confused, thanks guys!

Setting the comp to 6sec won't increase the layers duration. You need to stretch the layers out manually.

Having the comp at 24fps is what counts!

A null is an invisible layer that when you parent a camera to it, it is easier to control.

It doesnt seem to let me stretch the layers out.

I tried to adjust the composition, but each layer insists on on remaining @ 30 fps.
