Video Podcast without video?
by mlitty on Nov 18, 2007 at 2:31:05 am

I'm a new listener to the video podcast "Creative COW Final Cut Studio Tutorials". So far it seems great. I'm having only one problem. There's no video. I'm watching, listening actually, on a 5G 30Gb video iPod. The sound is clear and informative, but the screen shows information as if it were an audio podcast. VLC plays it without problems, but the iPod only gives me audio.

Am I doing something wrong?

its seems a bit strange

the older podcasts are maybe just a straight mp4 setting

the newer ones are definitely the ipod setting from compressor, this is an mpg4 h264 with ipod metadata I think.
havent been trying out the markers setting but i suppose this could be done.

all the files seem to play in itunes for me, should work on an ipod I reckon.

not sure what is happening

is it playing in itunes?

also dont use an ipod but maybe it is a preview setting?

I'm a linux user, so there's no itunes to use, but vlc does play the videos without a problem. Oddly enough, I recently purchased a 60GB 5G iPod video that plays the videos without a problem. The 30GB 5G player still won't play them, though other video podcasts play.

I'm not sure what the problem is. The iPod doesn't seem to give any error or other report. Also, videos with unrecognized codecs don't transfer to the iPod with my software, so the fact that it's transferring suggests that the issue may be one of fine detail, maybe a setting somewhere.

I'll keep trying different videos from the feed to see if I happen upon one that works in the 30GB iPod. If I do, I'll report back.

Thanks for your consideration.
