Hi everyone !
Few days a go I bought a cable firewrire to speed up file transfer from my HPX170 to MacBookPro.
Comparing USB 2.0 and FW400 (which is in hpx170) , FW should be a litlle bit faster.

On USB 2.0 i have speed around 30 MB/s,
when I connect my HPX by FW and start transfer some big file (around 10 GB) the speed doesn't reach 10 MB/s (!!!!????)

Can anyone explain me why ?????

Transferring from the camera is the slowest way to go no matter which cable you use. If you want to speed up your transfer times the you want to invest in the P2 card reader

OK - thx for respond.

But seriously... anybody knows why the firewire is so slow? anyone has same situation ? is it normal 10MB/s on firwire?

and another thing is .... what sense is in buying P2 card reader if i have MBP and the only whay to plug sth is by USB (2.0) and firewire ? :) :)

I found the USB route to be a little faster then the FW route when transferring from the camera directly. Defys logic I know.

Card reader is the way to go.

I don't quite understand. (!!!???) If i conntect cardreader to USB 2.0 I'll still have max 30MB/s , so what's the point ???

30 MB/s is the maximum speed to copy files from camera ?

Is there anybody who has faster speed coping file from camera ?

Unfortunately, transfer speeds directly from the camera are deathly slow.

I've done some testing with P2 ingest speeds and found that the fastest direct-from-camera ingest method is to use USB and P2 Viewer (or P2CMS on Mac).

Test is here: http://octopodblog.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/adobe-prelude-cs6-p2-ingest-spe...
