Help.... I downloaded a P2 folder onto a hard drive and tried to import the folder into Final Cut. Every time I try and open it Final Cut shuts down. I can open the card I shot before and after the card that is not opening. I have tried to open the Content Folder from the original hard drive and from the back-up drive. The folder will just not come into Final Cut. And YES the original files from the card were erased. This has never happened before. Any help would be great. I NEED this footage.

First try trashing your prefs. Tried that didn't work out.
Do you have FXFactory installed? Don't have FXFactory
Do you have Perian installed? If so, remove it via the sys prefs. Don't have Perian.
DO you have P2CMS? Nope. That might be a good idea though.
Thanks for helping out. I have never had trouble opening up a folder that I have downloaded from The camera yet. Final Cut is just not liking this folder.

Also, check the file name. What is the name of the folder that holds the P2 folder? make sure there's no weird characters in the name. Try renaming it to something shorter and without any punctuation.

The folder name is "Contents" (which is what the P2 names the folder). I never change that folder name. I make another folder when I Import from the camera. I also tried renaming the folder from North_2 to North2. So there was no funny characters.

Okay. So you have a folder named North2 (underscores are okay, by the way) and inside that folder you have a folder named "CONTENTS" all caps and a last clip.txt file, right?
Inside the CONTENTS folder you should have AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO and VOICE.
Correct?
Then you should have files within the AUDIO, VIDEO, CLIP and ICON folders.
Correct?
If so, get info on the CONTENTS folder and tell me how big it is.

No problem what so ever on the questions. I have the footage on a rugged Lacie, and a G Raid3.
I'm trying to download P2CMS. I'm not sure if I have the drivers that I need to install it. Still trying to get it straight.

I installed the P2CMS Plug-in DPX Converter Plug-in. Not sure where to go from there. Sorry if I'm not familiar with this plug-ins. I really haven't dealt with many plug-in's.
If you live in Wisconsin or Colorado I'll bring some beers over for you extended time and info.

[Anthony Wilhelms]"If you live in Wisconsin"
Just south. I am what you might call a FIB.
Chicago is my home.
[Anthony Wilhelms]"I installed the P2CMS Plug-in DPX Converter Plug-in"
You don't need that, you need the P2CMS application. On the link I sent you, simply click the download for mac option. Install and then look in your Applications folder.

That's funny. My Uncle has NONFIB on his license's plate. He's from Wisco and lives in Bloomington.
So I'm hitting the "Download" for Mac in the "P2 Contents Management Software"
Then it takes me to the DVCPRO "Download"
or AVC-I "Download"
or DPX "Download"
I tried the DPX one that you said I didn't need. Am I in the write area?

Nice.... I can view them in the Management Software. So do you just put them into the Capture Scratch somehow, or what's the process now.
Thanks again. At least I can view them now.

Hey Jeremy,
I have to go off-line for the day.
I was able to view the clips in that software. Now I just need to get those clips into Final Cut to be able to edit. I'll play with the software tonight to see what I can do.
Thanks for all your time.

Hi,
I've been having the same issue and I can't resolve this problem!
I'd imagine you have already resolved this issue and I would love
to know what the problem was with your clips.
I can see clips on P2CMS but not on Final Cut.
Is it a camera issue? a P2 issue? a DuelAdapter Issue?

Hey Maya,
Oddly enough this problem has been eating at me for awhile. After I read your post I tried something. I transferred that file to a new hard drive and hooked it up to my Desktop. (Before I was on the road w/a G4 powerbook laptop, and a Lacie rugged hard drive). When I tried importing and adding selection to Queue IT WORKED. But. the first clip in that folder did not work. It had a stop sign with a explanation mark in the middle of it. The Final Cut viewer said that clip was unsupported. So I'm guessing is that that clip messed things up enough.
