Jan C. Thanks, BUT ??
by Nate Stephens on Jan 10, 2008 at 5:39:06 pm

Jan,

Our Queen of the the P2, Thanks alot, Just like you said my 16gb P2 card and Barrys' book arrived yesterday, along with a cute P2 mouse pad (now that's official). This is just 2+ weeks after I got the HVX200 and over the major holiday... You are as awesome as the HVX200.

But one big question, WHY was the 16gP2 card, Barry's Book and the P2 mouse Pad shipped in a Sony 3DVM63HD Digital Videocassette Box????

Is my 16g P2 card "grey" market?

Does Barry's Book contain "Homeland Security" secrets?

Is there a frentic grab for the P2 Mouse Pads?

Or were you just making a point that I will never have to buy a case of HDV tape to shoot HD? And maybe a jab at Sony.

Me thinks the current expression is, w00t, w00t, W00t

All depends on where you bought it.

From what I'm gathering here is:
Panasonic advertises the HVX200 to be sold with the 16GB P2 card and Barry's book in the box along with the camera. I would guess for the dealers with old stock (no book or P2 card prepackaged) Panasonic will send them the book and P2 card afterward and the dealer forwards it to you. The dealer packaged it to you however they saw fit. However, I would expect to receive a P2 card in the plastic holder and a sealed cardboard box like they usually come. If you didn't receive the official plastic case for the P2 that's a bummer man cause they keep it dust free and protected when not docked. I would speculate the dealer received the book but not the cards and elected to send you a card they "had around" just to get you looked after while they waited for their next P2 stock to arrive.

The main thing is you got them. Fill out your warranty cards and register them because grey market item serial numbers will not jive with Panasonic's USA warranty and Panasonic will reject the warranty application automatically.

"everything is broken" ......1st. coined by Esther Philips I believe.

Rennie,

I got the the P2 plastic case..... Is all Hvx-er's so serious... I got everything that was sold to me in perfect brand new USA shape... I have been shooting my Sony 35wsl for 4 years and before that my Sony M7 for 15 years... All I am trying to say is thanks Jan,, I am totally amazed at this little camera and all I have been able to do with it for 2 weeks is plug it into my Macbook Pro..

I have been kicking broadcast gear since my first Bolex EBM in the 70's and I can't wait to get my 500 financed.. The P2 gear is what I have been dreaming of for almost 3//// years... And it is so green --- NO Tape -- put that in your next newsletter.

Jan,

I promise I will work on my punch-lines (damn writers strike)

Please put down the axe. Don't chop no heads. The good guys at VSA, Lincoln Neb.. just packaged your P2 card, Barrys book and the P2 mouse pad in an empty Sony DV-HD case (120 pieces) cardboard box. They probably just trying to recycle ("green') a cardboard box....

I just thought it was a wonderful hoot (w00t, w00t). A jab at Sony. A great reminder that I don't buy camera tape for this little camera which is so trendy, ie "green" technology.

And please be nice to those VSA guys, they sold me my Medea Raid 4 years ago at a price, nobody would talk about...

I love it when manufacturers build gear that does so much more at the price point, P2..
I love it when a Rep, goes the distance in getting you a great price on the gear, Jason-Tape Central.
And being a vissual guy, I just love a little humor in my life, thanks to VSA..

And for a P2 Queen, you the best 110%

sincerely your court Jester 'in-training'
