I am trying to record footage that I shot on the HVX200 through Final Cut (6.0.1) to the AJ-HD1400 Panasonic Deck (directly out of my MacBookPro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). I have successfully printed to tape, but with one major problem...all the audio is crackling...it has this slight crackle..it's very frustrating. I have talked to everyone: Final Cut tech support, Panasonic tech support, rental house (VER) tech support...
Panasonic said it might be the deck's software needs to be serviced and upgraded firmware. The really interesting thing is when I plugged the HVX200 directly in to the 1394 port and recorded it the audio was perfect. I guess I'm just looking for any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Hello Scooba. Unfortunately you have found the bug. I can['t get any answers either. It seems that there's a sync issue with intel Macs and the 1400 deck. Don't know where it's coming from, but I a have not found a fix except to lay off via HDSDI. I also could not figure out how to do an audio only insert edit on the 1400, so laying off via firewire is useless at this point.
...and now I am using my buddy's power book 17" (PowerPC) and works perfect!!!! I am so HAPPY right now! I don't know why companies like Panasonic can't just admit their faults and come clean and tell their consumers that certain things work and don't work...waisted all weekend trying to figure this out and now have 15 hours of footage to dump in half a day...oh well...

Yes, the problem is constrained to intel machines. Like I said, I can't find out if it's on the Apple side or Panasonic side. I would think it's a problem with Apple.

Yeah...thanks for your help though! Whoever it is, I just wish they would at least make the users aware. I mean I was on the phone with the Panasonic tech guy and he didn't even ask me about what type of computer I had...and Apple guy didn't mention anything about there being a specific problem with the Intel...nor did the tech guy from VER...
