Why doesn't HPX2000 do slow motion?

This post if for Panasonic directly, but I'd love to hear what others have to say about it.
I can shoot something at 60fps and take it into Cinema Tools and conform it to 23.98. Bang. I've got slow motion. It's really simple. Why don't you include it on the camera? (Like the HVX200) It can't be that hard can it? Am I missing something or over simplifing the process? Why not add it?

You need to go into the 'Recording Setup' menu and select 24p as the 'Rec Format', then go into the 'Scene File' menu, select 'Film Cam' and set the frame rate to 60. You now have 24p shot at 60p, or overcranked. If you shoot 60 at 60, it will play back at 60, or normal speed.

That applies to the HVX200, but not to the HPX2000 (which is what the original poster was asking about).
I don't know why the HPX2000 doesn't do it, but the forthcoming HPX500 will. If you need/want a 2/3" HVX, the HPX500 has the same overcranking/undercranking features that the HVX200 has.
The HPX2000 appears to be aimed at network/broadcast/news shooters. It doesn't offer variable frame rates, and it also doesn't (currently) offer 24pN mode.

WOW!!! What a total oversite on my part. You're right. It doesn't shoot in 24PN!!!!!! That's why it doesn't shoot in slow motion! On the HVX200, to show footage in slow motion you need to shoot in a PN mode. What a bummer! The AG-HPX500 doesn't tempt me as much because it doesn't support AVC-Intra (and several other things that I learned in another post like CCD resolution etc.)
Panasonic, I'm getting reallly tierd of waiting for a P2 varicam replacement. Could you hurry it up a little? Okay, let's set a date together. How does April 16 sound?
Oh and could you include 1080/24PN and some way to name your shot in the camera (being able to add a scene number or something.) Thanks! You guys are the best!

The HPX2000 is supposed to get a 24pN update. Question for Panasonic: Will you then be able to shoot 60p/50p/30p to 24pN, thus giving in camera overcranking like the $5,000 HVX.

Have you checked the new AJ-HPX3000 coming? It is much closer to a Varicam than the HPX2000 and may well have variable speeds.
* 2 million pixel progressive image block
* Using the AVC-Intra codec, get a 10-bit image at full 1920x1080
resolution, not 1440x1080
* 2/3 type 2,200,000 pixel 3CCD
* Camera will be less than $50,000

Yes, Peter, I saw that from an earlier post of yours and thanks. I am really curious about this AVC intra. I hope it's good. I have feeling it's going to be all compressed to bupkis and you won't be able to get a decent uncompressed image out of it.

Hi Jeremy,
Panasonic Broadcast's director of business development, Russ Walker, says the HPX3000 will do "D5-quality over firewire", so I'm expecting good things.
