A little confused here.
We have no problem importing footage into FCP directly from the p2 card.
Once I have imported, however, do I reformat, or just delete?
When try to drag ALL the contents of the p2 card to the trash, I get the warning that they are locked.
Is the proper procedure to drag everything BUT the txt file to the trash and delete using the option key, or just the contents of the contents folder to trash, and then option delete.
Or better, which folders or files to I preserve, and which do I delete?

We did an hour-long roundtable discussion for an infomercial, using two 4GB cards per camera. This is pretty much the worst-case nightmare scenario. And yes, it went plenty fast enough to keep up with the discussion. We used 720/24pN mode, so 10 minutes per card, that gave me time to pull the full card, offload it, use the P2 Viewer to verify the clips, and start the system copying a second/duplicate backup copy of the footage, then format the card in the laptop and have it ready to go for the next swap.

I wasn't the operator. We had plenty of people on set.
1080 would have been a challenge. I don't know that I would want to undertake a situation like this using just two 4gb cards when shooting 1080! In just a few weeks the FireStore should come out and minimize the worries about short recording times.
But even so, it worked. We shot for an hour on two cameras, 720/24pN, using two cards per camera with one spare. Worked just fine.
