Best monitors and good value?

I have to replace the monitor that we use for editing digital photos. They are for our website but also my photos for publication. I am considering an Apple monitor but I also want to know what else is high quality out there. I was also recommended Eizo and LaCie. They are considerably more expensive than Apple. Are they worth it? What is the difference between them and Apple. I also was just recommended a lower priced Samsung Syncmaster.

Try out Formac monitors, they have several different levels of spec, so you can pretty much tailor the size and quality to your budget. My Apple monitor suffers from screen burn, which is really noticeable if you have anything open that is even relatively bright, you'll notice a mark when you move it. It fades quite quickly, but it's still annoying.

SoBe,
Check out Lacie monitors. I am not sure what you would consider a good value for your budget, but these are excellent monitors for the price. Good calibration if you are considering any type of color critical work.
