File Transfer
by dafulk on Apr 20, 2007 at 2:04:21 pm

Recently I tried to send a photo to a contest and received a message the "the server would not accept MIME files". Since a MIME extension is something the e-mail program adds to reduce file size when transmitting, I cannot get rid of it. Does anyone know if there is a way to send a JPEG or TIFF without getting the MIME file extension added?

Are doing a "Save As" or "Save for Web". I think it's the "Save for Web" option that will do what you want.

Zip or FTP it or send through another email account.

Did you try to send the image inline or as an attachment? Try it the opposite way from which you tried.

That's a good suggestion. The problem with this specific case is that you choose a link from the originator which opens a dialogue box that has a browser to link to the file you want to send. It seems once you open the link to the dialogue you are using their server and not your own email program. I tried to go directly with an attachment and got no response from them.....oh well...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep them in mind for the future.
