Time Lapse Camera Housing

We have been asked by a construction company to do a time lapse recording of a building project over the next two years. Originally it was decided that a digital camera would be mounted on a tripod and hooked to a computer indoors. The computer would automatically take the pictures and allow us to monitor the camera over the web.
Circumstances changed and the camera will now have to be mounted outside with a cable running to the computer inside. I have looked for weatherproof housing mounts and everything I find is designed for video security cameras. Does anyone know of outdoor mounts for SLRs? Has anyone done a project like this and have alternative suggestions for how to approach it?

As silly as it might sound, I would think you could construct a water tight container for the camera for very little cash.
Do a search for water tight containers, one example might be large tupperware.
Cut a hole in one side and mount a glass UV filter for the lens hole.

David, it's not worth risking your camera. The problem is that if the container isn't made for diving or similar conditions, air can get in. Then it condenses and the next thing you know you have issues. I have lots of experience with electronics and water...spend the money on the right gear, and even then you'll need to maintain it.
