Upload/Download area for clients
by Yvette Allen on Dec 22, 2010 at 2:04:27 pm
Hi all,
I want to create an ftp type page on a website where clients can login and upload and/or download artwork files. Is this possible from Dreamweaver? I am not the most clued up on codes etc but usually manage to get where I need to in the end so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Eve,
Ive just built exactly this using Dreamweaver and Dreamweaver Development Toolbox which i have as a plugin for CS3.
You need to have a database connection with the FTP, and a little bit of knowledge of how to achieve what you are trying to, but pretty much everything is done for you using the developer toolbox. Its a pretty nice tool i have used several times now and requires very little knowledge of scripting, but for a bit of "goolgling" now and again.

Ok,
Your host.. ie the place you are uploading your site to, should allow PHP and Mysql. Most of the time this means THEY supply the databases as the host. If this is the case you need to set that database up and then connect to it through your host.
It is easy but complicated if you havent done it before...

Hi Richard,
I have the same Dreamweaver Development Toolbox you are talking about, I downloaded the software from Adobe web site on a 30 days trial bases. However, I have problem with the software. After the 30 days went by, the software started requesting serial number.
Do you have idea how I could get my hands on the serial numbers? You may say that I could contact Adobe, but they will not respond to my e-mail concerning the same serial numbers. I understand that they have discontinued with this software. Please help me on this issue.
