Video in Fixed positon Div Tag?
by Stuart Christensen on Nov 5, 2009 at 2:24:41 am

Hello Dreamweaver People!

I designed a webpage that has a video player in a fixed position, so that the viewer just has to mouse over a list of different videos and upon clicking, the video loads into the fixed position and begins playing. I can get it to work with one .flv file but can't wrap my mind around how to insert or link the videos that are chosen into this "fixed" position. I'm sort of new to dreamweaver and any suggestions on how to plan this out would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! STU

I know alot....but not as much as the other guy.

Hi Stuart,

I had the same problem a little while ago so I posted my problem up on the COW like yourself. I don't think this is possible in dreamweaver (if it is it's very complex). Someone (I think it was Fernando) said I should take a look at this tutorial and do it flash:

The whole action-script coding thing is beyond me personally so rather than learn it, I kind of just cheated it and created separate pages to make it look as if the video is playing in the same area on the same page:

Because the pages are almost identical it didn't take that long; I just 'saved as' and gave each page another name, and then re-assigned the links. This is probably not the best way of doing things but it worked out well for me.

Hope this helps, Mike

Hello Michael! Thank you for responding! YES!!!!! This is exactly what I'm up to and yes, the whole coding thing is somewhat beyond my grasp yet I know what I want and if I have to cheat a little so be it!

This is exactly the validation or answer I was looking for! Thanks for the response! You have helped me greatly and I thank you for being a scholar and gent! The cow rules again! STU
